CITY OF TSHWANE TARIFF INCREASES AUGUST 2020

Tariff

The utility tariffs increase annually with effect 01 July. We confirm that City of Tshwane increased the tariffs from 1 July 2020 as follows:

  1. 1. Electricity:

    The electricity tariff increased by an average of 6.22% as approved by NERSA, the Energy Regulatory Body, on the previous year’s tariff.

  2. 2. Water:

    The water tariff scale was revamped, and a new sliding scale applies. A fixed network charge of R120.00 per dwelling per month for the availability of water was introduced. This implies that although the first 9 kl of water is free, you will still be billed a network charge of R120.00 if you use less than 9 kl of water during a 30-day period. Below the new sliding scale for water:

  1. 3. Sanitation:

    As with the water scale, the sanitation scale was also amended, and a network charged introduced. The new sanitation network charge is R70.00 per dwelling per month for the availability of sewer network and will be payable although you may use less than 9kl of water during a 30-day period. Sanitation charges are directly linked to your monthly water consumption. Find below the new tariff scale for sanitation:
